Sziget Festival Announces Kylie Minogue as Headliner for Opening Night

Sziget, Europe's biggest and most diverse music festival, has just revealed that pop icon Kylie Minogue will headline the opening night of its 2024 edition. Alongside Kylie, DJ and producer FISHER an the rising star Barry Can't Swim have also been confirmed to join the stellar lineup, promising an unforgettable start to the festival.

Kylie Minogue, the multi-platinum-selling artist, has entered a new phase of he illustrious career with her hit song "Padam Padam" from her 2023 album Tension. Having recently received prestigious BRIT Music Awards for both 'Global Icon' and 'International Artist,' her performance at Sziget is set to be a major highlight. Kylie's vibrant and energetic stage presence will undoubtedly set the tone for the festival's opening night.

Joining Kylie is GRAMMY-nominated DJ and producer FISHER. Known for his infectious beats an energetic performances, FISHER has become one of the most sought-after talents in the electronic music scene with hits like "Losing It" and "You Little Beauty." His presence at Sziget will ensure the dance floor remains packed and pulsating with energy.

Sziget's hip-hop stage, the dropYard, has also announced its exciting lineup. Key names include Irish rapper Kojaque, known for his flawless performances and lyrical sharpness. His album Phantom of the Afters was nominated for the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Album of the Year. Other notable acts include legendary British grime MC P Money, who released Money Over Everyone 4 last year, and London native Rushy, who had a viral hit with "Pressure" in 2023. Additional artists like Bladerunnaz DJs, D-LOW, Gray, Joe Unknown, and Kybba will ensure that the dropYard remains a vibrant hub of hip-hop beats and dynamic performances.

The former Europe Stage, now known as Ibis x ALL presents The Buzz, will feature international bands that have achieved significant success in their home countries but are not yet widely known internationally. The year's lineup includes Royel Otis, Jeremias, Dead Poet Society, Íñigo Quintero, and Artemas, promising a diverse and exciting musical experience.

Sziget is not just about music; it's a vibrant escapade from ordinary life where each day brings new excitement for practically a week straight. The festival will feature the Revolut Stage, which is open until 4 am every day, hosting acts like Marc Rebillet, L'Impératrice, MEUTE, Aurora, Apashe with Brass Orchestra, Barry Can’t Swim, Teezo Touchdown, Neil Frances, MØ, Crystal Fighters, Kiasmos live, Overmono, and Four Tet.

The festival's dropYar will also offer daytime activities like break-yoga sessions and a global showdown of break dancers, transforming into a vibrant hub of hip-hop beats and dynamic performances as the evening approaches.

Sziget celebrates its 30th edition this year, embodying a vision of unity and freedom cultivated over three decades. The festival, known for its cultural diversity and mutual respect, has been honored with the 'Take a Stand Award' at the European Festivals Awards in 2024 for its dedication to social issues. Under the banner "Free To Be," Sziget continues to champion personal happiness and collective belonging, welcoming all as equal Szitizens to experience the Island of Freedom.

Sziget prioritizes visitor safety and healthcare, implementing measures like information channels and aid zones for mental and physical well-being. The festival’s sustainability initiatives have earned recognition from A Greener Future, with efforts including the use of organic cotton for festival merchandise, tent rentals to reduce waste, and diverse, environmentally conscious catering options.
