"20 years… cannot believe it will 20 years since Shadows Fall dropped The War Within on the world.....this record changed my entire life and took me around the world. We had been surprised by the success of The Art Of Balance and definitely felt a little pressure to take things to another level, but we did not allow that pressure to change our vision of the band we wanted to be. Our goal was to allow all of our influences shine through while pushing metal into a new direction, creating the music we had always wanted to hear ourselves."

"The War Within may be the closest we have come to achieving these goals and that hard work and vision allowed us to get on our first arena tour, our first Grammy nomination, and countless other firsts along the way. Since this is an important birthday for the album, we wanted to play a special set to celebrate The War Within in its entirety, every track, some of which has rarely been played live." - Brian Fair on the special occasion.

Starland Ballroom, as well as New Jersey in general, has been home to many special Shadows Fall shows over the course of their career. The last time Shadows Fall played at Starland Ballroom was December of 2010 as part of WSOU'S (Not So) Silent Night which also featured A Life Once Lost, With Daggers Down, Ashes Of Your Enemy, and Name The Creature. They have also played there with numerous other notable acts including Five Finger Death Punch in 2009, Static - X and 3 Inches Of Blood in 2007, and in the parking lot as part of Sounds of the Underground Tour 2007 alongside notable acts GWAR, Chimaira, Every Time I Die, Job For A Cowboy and The Acacia Strain, to name a few.

"New Jersey has always had some of the craziest crowds we have ever played to so doing this show at The Starland Ballroom seemed like the perfect choice! Dirty Jersey has always felt like a home away from home to us and we have had so many full-on parties on that stage. We cannot wait to party there again! Start stretching now and get ready to come out of mosh retirement so we can give The War Within the birthday rager it deserves. See ya soon!"

The War Within was released on September 21st in 2004 via Century Media Records and is the band's biggest selling record. The album has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide and in 2005 made sales history when it became the Century Media's best selling album of all time, a record they still holds to this very day. The album peaked at #20 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on Top Independent Albums at the time of its release. Its lead single "What Drives the Weak" sits at #3 on Spotify with 2 million streams while "The Light That Blinds" sits at #1 with over 9 million streams. The album took Shadows Fall to many heights, earning them their first Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance and granting them their first ever arena tour in 2005, supporting Slipknot and Lamb Of God. "Light That Blinds" was featured as a bonus track on Guitar Hero II and "The Power of I and I" was part of the UFC Ultimate Beatdowns Vol. 1 compilation CD.

Shadows Fall, consisting of Brian Fair (vocals), Jon Donais (guitar), Matt Bachand (guitar), Paul Romanko (bass), and Jason Bittner (drums), made their triumphant return to the stage on December 18th 2021 at the legendary Palladium in Worcester, MA following a six year hiatus. They would then make stops at Blue Ridge Rock Festival and Furnace Fest the following year and have recently played Milwaukee Metal Fest, New England Metal And Hardcore Festival, and Lamb Of God's Headbangers Boat. Shadows Fall is currently working on new music but until then, grab your tickets and enjoy this special one-night only event to celebrate one of the most impactful albums in metalcore history.
