Rain City Drive Releases New Single "Neverbloom" Causing Deep Emotions To Come To The Surface

On June 28, 2024, Rain City Drive released their newest single "Neverbloom," which, within the first 30 seconds of the song, made me become emotional instantly. Before I even read what the song was about, I knew from the lyrics that the song is about the death of someone you care about and having difficulties coming to terms with it. I haven't teared up from a song in a very long time because I can relate to the lyrics on a deeper level. My best friend died April 2, 2024, and I've been struggling with coming to terms with her death. The lines "Now I'm fading to black," which I perceive as falling into a darkness filled with sadness, is exactly how I felt when I got the news of her death. "Look at me choke on, Words I never got to say, all the moments that I wish I could show you, Oh I hope I made you proud even though you'll never see my flowers; bloom" really hit me the hardest because I sit here everyday wishing she could see me flourish with how much I am accomplishing in my photography career. She was one of my biggest supporters and I hope before her death I made her proud. And I hope she is proud of me now watching over me.

"Counting my blessings; Cause the world keeps score; I'm done learning these lessons; I can't take it anymore" could mean appreciate what the world gives you, but at the same time anything negative that you do could cause something to happen, which will have you thinking that you don't need anymore life lessons and you're tired of horrible things happening to you. "I'm learning to live without you" this is the hardest pill to swallow every single day. Being on this earth knowing my friend is not here with me to celebrate each others accomplishments and just being one another's soulmate is something I try to not feel guilty about. My best friend watched me start my photography journey and now she can't see how far I came since her death and how much I accomplished in such little time. I hope I am honestly making her proud.

This new release showcases the softer side of Rain City Drive and the lyrics are very relatable to anyone who experienced losing a loved one and not having them on this earth with you to watch you become the person you are today. If you read below; this is what McAndrew had to say about the songs meaning;

""I wrote "Neverbloom" about my dad who passed when I was 24. I find myself thinking how I wish he could see the things I’ve accomplished and the man that I’ve become. It’s about learning to live with the reality that he only got to see the beginning of my journey, the seeds I planted, but won’t see my flowers bloom.”" - Matt McAndrew, lead vocalist.
