Post Profit Share Music Video for "Cancer Culture"

Post Profit

Shortly after signing over to SharpTone Records, the Longview, Texas trio Post Profit released "Cancer Culture" with a music video to accompany it. The dramatic track highlights the bands unquestionably unique blend, using all of their influences and displaying them with pride to express where they are heading. It also touches upon the controversial topic that remains close to their hearts.

"It's all about cancel culture. People watch you and wait for you to make the wrong step so they can cross you out. This song was born from our frustration with the feeling of being overlooked and pushed aside, and us trying to overcome that and stay determined in our path."

- Matt Jackson

The video features the band - Matt Jackson (vocals/guitar), Nick Hawner (vocals/guitar), and Zach Hicks (vocals/drums) - giving their best TV news broadcast impression all while having free reign for a day at the Texas Museum of Broadcasting and Communications located in Kilgore, Texas.

"We're beyond excited to announce that we have joined the SharpTone family! Their roster is stacked full of bands that we have looked up to for years such as Loathe, Holding Absence, Don Broco, and Boston Manor, just to name a few. We feel right at home with these amazing bands and the welcome we've received has felt more like a homecoming. We're looking forward to working closely with SharpTone on our upcoming releases, and ushering in a new era of rock music alongside the label's very talented and accomplished roster."

- Band comment on signing to SharpTone Records

Many might say that Post Profit have been waiting for this moment since the cradle as each member was introduced to a musical instrument between the ages of 2 and 6. Zach and Matt formed a friendship as toddlers when their moms became best friends from church. Nick would later discover Matt's powerful vocals through the high school intercom.

"Matt's father was the high school principal and he'd have Matt on there in the mornings singing about refraining from drugs and alcohol and striving for good school attendance."

- Nick Hawner

Over the next few years, the band got to know each other by going to and preforming at the same local shows. Nick and Zach especially hit it off and instantly became inseparable, spending most of their time listening to music, becoming eager to put a band together themselves. While this was happening, Matt was sinking his teeth into a Dallas based metal-core-band called Far From Earth.

In early 2017 Matt started hosting open jams every Sunday at smoky East Texas dive bar and one night he decided to ask Zach to join him on drums. Zach agreed, leading his friend Nick along with him on guitar. This is where the trio quickly formed a strong musical bond. They started playing together and soon after they slipped original songs into their sets full of covers. They booked their first show on Halloween at a party in Tyler, TX

Gaining experience with touring gigs across the south, Post Profit soon gained a reputation for their commanding and impactful live performances. These include their appearances at 2021 and 2022 Welcome to Rockville in Daytona, FL. With influences such as Deftones, Incubus, Failure, and Quicksand, the created original songs and sound that would be presented with pride on their debut When You Think It's Right It's Always Wrong. This release earned a million streams independently and the successful single "Smother" gained the attention of SharpTone Records, which soon led to their deal.
