Perrie Edwards Finds Her Voice as a Solo Artist with Debut Album Recorded at Home

Perrie Edwards

Little Mix fans, prepare to be captivated! Perrie Edwards has just unveiled her debut solo single, 'Forget About Us,' a bittersweet up-tempo track that's a product of a remarkable collaboration. Co-written by the incredible Ed Sheeran, legendary songwriter David Hodges, and the talented Steve Solomon, this song is a unique fusion of their musical styles, promising a fresh and exciting sound for all music enthusiasts.

Perrie reflects on past relationships in the song, singing, "I don't want you to ever forget about us in the front seat / listening to songs that made you think about me." It's the perfect introduction to Perrie as a solo artist, highlighting her stunning vocal talent and giving fans a glimpse into her personal life.

Perrie's journey from a naturally shy and unsure girl to the self-assured singer we know from Little Mix is a testament to her personal growth. Her experience in one of the best-selling girl groups of all time was transformative. In Little Mix, she was hesitant to contribute to songwriting, but through working on her upcoming debut album, she found her confidence and surprised herself with her extensive songwriting contributions.

Perrie's debut album is an eclectic and diverse record that showcases her vocal range and songwriting abilities. It takes inspiration from her rock n roll-influenced childhood, Motown, disco, country, 80s, and, of course, bold pop music. But the common thread is Perrie's strong, soaring vocals that fearlessly grapple with each melody and top note. "Going into sessions as a solo artist now and being able to say what I want and I feel is just the most amazing experience. This process has allowed me to believe in myself and explore all my different emotions and different parts of my life," Perrie said in an interview.

What's even more fascinating is that Perrie's highly personal album was a labor of love created at her North London home, her sanctuary. She transformed her unused dining room into a home studio, where she recorded most of the tracks with the support of her fiancé, Alex. Despite the home setup, she collaborated with some of the best producers and co-writers in the industry, including Ed Sheeran, Raye, Johnny McDaid, Feli Ferraro, and Jon Bellion.

"I'm so proud of what I've done and created. I wanted it to be fun above anything else and showcase my singing through ballads and big vocal numbers," she said, with her sights now set on taking her music out in front of the world and performing live with a band. "Having people singing your songs back to you is the best natural high in the world. I'm just so excited to see how fans react to my music now."

Perrie's debut album is not just a collection of songs but a deeply personal narrative that shares her story so far. Her distinctive vocals stand proud as she emotes her way through songs that cover a range of emotions. Whether you're in the mood for something sensitive or powerful, Perrie's debut album has got you covered. So, what are you waiting for?
