Mixed Emotions Only Knocked Loose Fans Can Process

"You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To” seeks Knocked Loose creating an era of malicious two-stepping, pure chaos, and bittersweet feelings in a way only a true lover of metal and mosh pits can understand. On May 10, 2024, Knocked Loose released their third album titled “You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To” and I am very excited to say that these guys are for sure taking the world by storm.

Knocked Loose formed in 2013 by the members Bryan Garris, Isaac Hale, Kevin ‘Pacsun’ Kaine, Nicko Calderon, and Kevin Otten in Oldham, Kentucky, near Louisville. Signing with Pure Noise Records shortly after, the band released their first EP titled 'Pop Culture' in 2014. This is where it all started for many fans who never stopped listening and giving the band traction to release their first album “Laugh Tracks” featuring the viral song “Counting Worms," which ultimately helped them be as well known as they are today!

Moving to their second album, “A Different Shade Of Blue” really set the tone for their iconic sound, leaving breadcrumbs for this new album and making the fans beg for more. The first single was dropped to give just a taste of something new on February 27, titled “ Blinding Faith.” Rattling with pure power, the band showcases fast but tasteful drums, aggressive vocals, and overall a beautifully unsettling sound that is only true to Knocked Loose itself.

Fans were blessed with only the best on April 3 when “Don’t Reach For Me” came off the press hot and heavy, starting out and moving into a progressive direction perfectly unmatched with a smooth breakdown only leaving the vocals, bass and drums crashing right back into the chorus with an animal like scream. Gracing our ears again for the last song drop before the new era began, Knocked Loose collaborated with the amazingly creative Poppy for the release of “ Suffocate”  on April 23rd. an intriguing mix of a haunted woman’s metal screams and a mysteriously reggae breakdown that will definitely be a hit for summer and having you scream at the top of your lungs “Eclipsing Weight!” Now touching on the new tracks of this album and the album as a whole! ( What we are all here for)

Overall this album is full of pummeling creativity that dances around with the idea of whatever emotion that comes to mind. Each song patches together like a story that turns into a movie, like a devilish angel and a heavenly devil kicking the door open. “Thirst” travels into “Piece By Piece” with a heart pounding tempo accompanied by a SMOOTH transition into “Suffocate" (feat. Poppy) telling us "the party is just getting underway."

The fourth track, a pre-released single I previously mentioned, “Don’t Reach For Me” is definitely a certified crowd favorite, bellowing into another beautiful transition that yet again ties the whole album into one big piece in this current era of Knocked Loose. Moving onto a another new track, the fifth single, “ Moss Covers All,” reaches our halfway point of the soul crushing album, with a similar ambiance of fast paced drums and slow moving chords meshed seamlessly with effortless breakdowns giving an almost Viking feel to the album.

Adding some experimental spice into the mix, the sixth track, "Take Me Home," begins with the end of “Moss Covers All,” a sick alarm-like noise taking the stability of any sluggish vibes you might have. Waking listeners back up, track seven, “Slaughterhouse 2 (feat. Chris Motionless & Motionless In White), wastes no time adding a familiar voice to the album with a fan favorite continuation.

Incorporating a groove of a different genre along the lines of feel back into the screams we all know and love from Bryan, the eighth track, "The Calm That Keeps You Awake," adds a lively twist. Moving into number nine, another pre-released single, “Blinding Faith,” incorporates a bittersweet vibe and a dirty guitar riff for that final scene before the curtain closes alongside the newest chapter for Knocked Loose. “ Sit & Mourn” calms it down a bit, really letting everything sink in before coming right back for a final release of energetic tension, with emotion seeping in every note performed, engulfing the feeling of anger and grief. Carrying out the album as a whole, the accompaniment of, of course, a beautiful guitar solo gathered by hard hitting drums ending with a feeling only music will help you process. Thank you for reading and hopefully listening with me. I look forward to what’s to come but for now I think I’m gonna enjoy this album for a while and I encourage you to as well.
