On the evening of June 4, the Samsung Space in New York City transformed into an intimate haven for music enthusiasts as it hosted the talented MaKenzie. Known for its state-of-the-art technology and sleek design, the venue provided a perfect backdrop for an evening filled with captivating music and mesmerizing performances from, not only MaKenzie, but also the polished accompanying musicians. The ambiance was eclectic and soothing, with a palpable sense of anticipation in the air as fans gathered on the bleachers surrounding the small stage.

MaKenzie is emerging as one of the most exciting new talents in the music industry, and her latest release, A Pretty Fucking Cool EP, is solid proof of her immense vocal prowess and artistic vision. Critics and fans alike are taking notice, with Consequence hailing the EP for showcasing her "incredibly deft vocal abilities." Among the standout tracks, the light and airy "Cashmere" shines brightly as our favorite off the release, characterized by its confident and playful tone, underpinned by strong synths that highlight MaKenzie's command over her craft.

The praise doesn't stop there. VIBE has described MaKenzie's music as "nostalgic and vibrant," a fitting description for an artist whose work evokes the timelessness of classic R&B and soul while infusing it with a contemporary rock and mainstream pop flair. Her ability to blend old-school influences with modern sensibilities is part of what makes her music so compelling.

MaKenzie's journey in music began early. Growing up, she performed with her family in church where she honed her vocal skills and developed a deep appreciation for the catalogs of legends like Prince, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey. Her natural talent and charisma soon found a broader audience when she was featured as a contestant on The Voice. Her performance on the show left a lasting impression, thanks to her voice that "gives you chills" and lyrics that resonate deeply with listeners.

Her latest singles, including "Maybe" featuring TA Thomas, "Lips," and "Velvet," offer just a glimpse into MaKenzie's evolving artistry. "Lips," in particular, has been highlighted as a sultry R&B jam with neon keys and a beat reminiscent of Prince's iconic sound. MaKenzie's vocals on this track are nothing short of stunning, effortlessly transitioning between breathy whispers and powerful falsettos, leaving listeners eagerly anticipating what she will deliver next.

As she continues to release new music and perform live, it's clear MaKenzie is on the cusp of something big. Her unique blend of vocal skill, emotional depth, and dynamic performance style positions her as a rising star in the music scene. For those who haven't yet discovered her, now is the perfect time to dive into her impressive body of work and claim you've been here since the start!

As I wandered around the Meatpacking district in search of 837 Washington Street, I blasted MaKenzie's latest EP through my wired headphones and was immediately transported into her world of musical bliss. I became so consumed in the music, her shimmering vocals backed by pristine instrumentals, I walked right past the Samsung storefront three separate times before eventually realizing the venue was inside of a phone retailer. When I finally entered, I was greeted by the venue staff at a folding table with slips of paper where they advised me to scribble down a question for MaKenzie. I have never been to Samsung Space prior to this show, but for MaKenzie's performance, the event began with an intuitive question and answer session, allowing fans to engage with the artist on a personal level and I absolutely loved this addition to the performance. Ultimately, I thought too long and too hard and missed my opportunity to ask a question but as I joined the rest of the crowd, I found all my questions were thoroughly answered regardless.

After a thirty minute interview, with 15 minutes allotted for fan questions and in the moment comments from the audience, the lights dimmed and the crowd was left hanging off the edge of their seats. MaKenzie took the stage to thunderous applause, her presence in front of a microphone commanding attention from the moment she re-appeared in front of the audience. Dressed in a chic yet understated outfit, she exuded confidence and charm, instantly connecting with the audience.

As the set progressed, MaKenzie took the audience on an emotional journey through her repertoire. Songs like "Maybe" and "Naked" showcased her versatility as an artist, blending elements of soul, R&B, and pop. Her ability to convey deep emotion through her music was evident in every performance, drawing the audience into her soulful world of bliss with each lyric and moody guitar solo.

Throughout the evening, MaKenzie demonstrated a natural ability to connect with her audience. Her genuine and warm stage presence made the large venue feel like an intimate gathering of friends. Between songs, she shared personal stories and insights into her songwriting process, creating a deeper connection with the crowd.
