Multiplatinum, chart-topping rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ released a brand-new single entitled "Passports & Suitcases" on January 19, 2024 featuring Grammy Award winning artist/producer KayCyy.

An elite lyricist, thoughtful songwriter, and intense voice for the culture, Joey Bada$$ rose up out of Bed-Study Brooklyn, New York and into a level of stardom and acclaim rarely achieved. He has not only emerged as one of the most applauded rappers of this century, but he also appeared in the Academy Award-winning film Distant Strangers. Following his seminal 1999 mixtape in 2012, he notched back-to-back Top 5 debuts on the Billboard 200 with B4.Da.$$ (2015) and All-Amerikkan Bada$$ (2017). Meanwhile, 2022's 2000 crashed the Top 25. His catalog has yielded the double-platinum "Devastated," gold-selling "Love Is A Feeling," and "Temptation," to name a few. Boasting a stacked gust list with JID, Larry June, Diddy, Capella Gray, and Westside Gunn, it also incited the applause of Rolling Stone and Pitchfork who observed, "You've heard Joey rap like this before, this scope is plusher, a Bad Boy veneer slathered over corner-bred rhyme schemes." Simultaneously, he emerged as a bona fide presence across film and television with credits ranging from roles on Mr. Robot and Wu-Tang: An American Saga, to a show-stopping turn on Power Brook II: Raising Kanaan and delivering a show-stopping performance of his track "Show Me" on NBC's The Tonight Show, Starring Jimmy Fallon. He even leveled up to the top of the film world with an Academy Award for starring in the 2020 short film Distant Strangers. Not to mention, Joey notably joined forces between Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, and The Underachievers for the 2019 blockbuster collaboration, Escaper From New York, and its subsequent tour. Giving back, he has staunchly supported various causes as a philanthropist including opening his very own program IMPACT MENTORSHIP which provides free mentorship for men of color 18 years and older, uplifting both his hometown of New York and the global community.

Joey showcases a refreshing side to his soulful artistry on "Passports & Suitcases" which follows a groovy, traditional hip-hop and blues influence. Produced by boysarerolling, the track opens with a head-nodding, spunky bass line complemented by KayCyy's silk-smooth melody before Joey flexes his infectious vocal range. Sampling Alex Isley's sensual "Good & Plenty" , the song gives a glimpse into a developing side of the emcee as he and KayCyy set the mood paired with a dreamy R&B undertone and hip-hop elements.

"Passports & Suitcases" comes on the heels of Bada$$'s epic conclusion on STARZ's original Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Last year, Joey released his previous efforts "Fallin'" and then his "Show Me" short film featuring Serayah. Released at the beginning of March, "Show Me" exploded with north of 4.8 million views while picking up critical plugs from COMPLEX, HipHipDX, UPROXX, and more. VIBE even praises, "The short is a perfect compliment to the rapper's latest drop, as the subdued ambiance mirrors that of production and Joey's contemplative lyrics."

Infiltrating culture, Joey plans on focusing on releasing new music for his fans this year. After gracing festivals all last year included Sol Blume, Bamboozle Festival, Lollapalooza, and Portugal's Praia Da Rocha, Joey continues to hit the stage this year with Bonnaroo this summer. Be on the lookout for more soon from Joey Bada$$!
