Gunhild Carling on the road to Mardi Gras


Gunhild Carling

Gunhild Carling is a Swedish native that performs internationally New Orleans Jazz. Her current tour is taking her on a road to Mardi Gras. She is a musician, songwriter and dancer that can play thirteen instruments. The trumpet and the trombone are her two main instruments: she would play multiple different instruments during the performance and even throughout one single song. Then at one point during her performance she plays three trumpets at the same time.  


In 2013, she performed with her 'Carling Big Band' at the Royal Palace in Stockholm in the celebration of King Carl XVI Gustaf's Ruby Jubilee. 2014 is performed on the TV show “Let’s Dance" and came in third place. In 2016, Carling performed at King Carl XVI Gustaf's 70th birthday celebration. 


Carling come out on stage full of energy, and interacting with the audience, her three-piece band all natives of the Southwest performed with her as if they had all been members of her band for years, she has a band that travel with her on occasion which consists of her family members. The songs she performed at the Flickinger Center on Friday ranged from” Hello Dolly”, “When the Saints Go Marching In.”, “Summertime”, and “Moonglow” to just name a few Jazz, Stomp and Ragtime songs. She got the audience involved in singing and close to the end of the performance the whole audience stood up and cheered and clapped their hands. There are two things the whole audience was waiting to see was her played a trumpet with no hands and three trumpets at the same time before ending her show.
