Godsmack, Bad Omens, I See Stars & More: Upheaval Festival Returns to Michigan in 2024

Are you ready to mosh away this summer in a circle pit? Upheaval Festival will be making its inaugural return in 2024 on July 19-20 in Grand Rapids, Michigan's very own Belknap Park. After their first curation in 2021 with big-name rock n' roll legends such as Korn and Rob Zombie playing alongside the likes of Chevelle, Staind, Skillet, Gemini Syndrome, and Heartsick, Upheaval has become a staple to the rock scene in Michigan for the last three years and 2024's experience will only continue to build upon the festival's growing legacy. This is a festival you will want to add to your list of musts this year, with a stacked lineup and beautiful views to offer, Upheaval is worth a summer trip to Michigan!

Behind the production of Upheaval Festival is MiEntertainment Group, a Michigan-based concert promoter who is also the brains behind many other Michigan music festivals that likewise return annually to the general Grand Rapids area. Upheaval Festival began as a small gathering of music lovers, and, with owners based out of the general area, there has always been a personal, intimate feel to this relatively large-scale event that attracts thousands of attendees from around the world each year. The co-founder, Jenna Meyer has mentioned, "As a resident of West Michigan, it is exciting to watch our business grow in my hometown and take advantage of the beautiful setting Belknap Park has to offer." The festival's rapid growth and increasing success can be attributed to its commitment to showcasing a wide range of musical genres, offering a breathtaking and inclusive space for both emerging and well-established artists to captivate audiences.

On January 19, Upheaval announced the first headliner for the festival beginning July 19; Godsmack. Due to the amount of requests by previous attendees throughout the years; Upheaval had to get Godsmack back on the lineup for 2024! On that day, there will also be; Killswitch Engage, Sevendust, The Hu, Saliva, and A Sense of Purpose. Saliva is the band I am most excited about due to my mother having me listen to them when I was younger and falling in love with the songs “Always” and “Click Click Boom”

On Saturday, July 20, the headlining band of the night is the one and only beloved Bad Omens. If a festival has Bad Omens headlining, we already know that the festival will sell out, so do not hesitate to snag tickets immediately to attend Saturday's stellar performances! Other bands also showcased on Saturday include; Beartooth, From Ashes to New, Drowning Pool, I See Stars, and Saul. Saul is actually my friend Myles Clayborne's band and he is currently their drummer. Seeing a friends band performing at a massive festival such as Upheaval, especially on the same day I See Stars and Bad Omens is performing, gives me hope for musicians in the scene that are trying their hardest to get noticed. Upheaval does a fantastic job offering the spotlight to upcoming artists, it truly adds to magnificence of this festival overall. Saul has also toured with bands in 2023 such as Red, Memphis May Fire, Norma Jean, and Secrets, mastering the formula of engaging an almost sold-out audience.

The other band that I know everyone is very excited about is I See Stars. They released their newest single “D4AMGE DONE” in November of last year and lately every single they been releasing has been bangers, constantly reaching high numbers in Spotify plays! The last time I saw I See Stars was at Vans Warped Tour 2016 in Scranton, Pennsylvania with other bands such as Chelsea Grin, Whitechapel, Volume, and Vanna. This all to say, the band knows how to rock out at a festival while competing with other big name acts and will most definitely have the crowd moshing from start to finish. I See Stars is one you won't want to miss at Upheaval!

But, of course, we can’t forget about the amazing after parties happening on both days with performances from As I Lay Dying on the 19th and P.O.D on the 20th starting at 9:00 pm for those 17 and older at The Intersection! Tickets for Upheaval Festival and both afterparty events are on sale now HERE.
