The innovative and well-renowned progressive metalcore titans ERRA - JT Cavery (vocals), Jesse Cash (guitar/vocals), Clint Tustin - (guitar), Conor Hesse - (bass), and Alex Ballew - (drums) - have officially announced their sixth studio album, Cure. The nearly 4 - 4-minute long track delivers the signature guitar style ERRA is known for with earth-shattering grooves and very ominous tones. One thing I noticed is that in contrast to the high-pitch vocal style Cash is known for, he goes for a more mellow, mid-range style of cleans in the chorus which is a nice change of pace for an ERRA song. As always, Cavey kills it in the verse with his powerful and sonic screams and I like that the instruments weren't too overpowering, allowing Cavey more room to deliver. The riffs both Cash and Tustin played weren't too crazy this time around but it was nice how simplified they were while still being very intricate and dynamic. The use of a simplified but groovy guitar riff mixed with progressive dynamics succeeded in making "Cure" feel very complex but still an easy and pleasing song to listen to.

"'Cure' was one of the last songs we wrote for the records. I had this groove riff that I was just so obsessed with, to the point that I wanted to stay with it for the full duration of the song. So even though the song stays in 4/4 for the most part, we're always staying locked into this dotted sequence of on rhythm guitars and kick, making the rhythm feel complex yet easy to latch onto as a listener. In the final breakdown section, we stay with this dotted sequence, but switch the time signature to 6/8 for a few bars, before reverting back to 4/4 to close out the song. These playful tinkerings with time signature serve as a suitable introduction to the approach we took with grooves throughout the whole record." - Jesse Cash on "Cure".

It's no secret that ERRA has built a reputation for their technical guitar-driven style and dynamic sound and with Cure, they intend on expanding that even further. Following the successful release of the band's self-titled 2021 album, the band combined their raw talent and incredible skill of technicality to produce Cure. It is by no means easy for a band to make an album that's both emotionally powerful AND musically skilled, especially on the progressive side, and yet ERRA accomplishes this with ease. Strap yourselves in, 'cause Cure is bound to take you on a thrilling ride, one that will seem never-ending and will leave you begging for more.
